Heads up for members in Japan- on NHK (Sogo) right now is the Bura Tamori program, they will be visiting the JR research center in Kokubunji later in the program.  May be worth a look.

The visit to the railway research center will be broadcast in next week's program- from the preview, it looks to be a good segment, including the running of a hybrid streetcar.  Tonight's program ended with Tamori visiting a combination sweets shop/model railway shop in Kokubunji, called Shigematsu. There seems to be a website featuring this shop, but right now I can't access it, probably people who saw it on the program are overloading the server.  The proprietor had an N scale layout in his basement.

Bikkuri, do you know if JR Souken has tours of this facility?  That would be awesome.

I think public visits are restricted to the annual open day called the Heibei Matsuri (held at the beginning of Oct.)

Just a reminder to forumers in Japan that Tamori's visit to the railway research institute will be on NHK at 10pm tonight.  Should be a good show.
