Japanese A4-sized Diorama

It's been quite a while since I posted here!
This doesn't
really
count as a train diorama, but there is a subway entrance, and I made it over the course of a week for a contest in Japan's RM magazine. The diorama features a street corner here in Nagoya — a typical morning scene in early fall, with people stopping by the Starbucks on their way to work. The main building, basically my first (and rather lackluster) attempt at scratchbuilding, has been truncated at the eighth floor to meet the height restrictions of the contest.

Very fine detailing! I like it very much :) The finishing of the edges of the high-rise on the roof could have been a bit better though, but that's the flaw when you build with cardboard... :(

Well, that's not really intended to be part of the diorama, I just hastily stuck that cardboard in to keep the interior of the building dark. The contest a diorama photo contest, so all my photos cropped out the top of the building. The actual building should be another ten stories taller.

I like your diorama. Maybe you can add some passenger into the bus, it would look better on the photos.
Trees are also hand made?

Ah, I see. If that's the case, then you gave me inspiration for my next project
(limiting heights in dioramas)

Yeah, I didn't realize the bus would look so empty till I saw the photos. If I can get it open, I'll put some figures in it.
Yeah, the trees are hand-made. Still getting the technique down, but I'm generally happy with how they turned out. (I don't care for most commercial trees — too spongy looking, not to mention expensive.)

Tenorikuma - I was wondering where you've been, welcome back! I love the details that you put into your work, specially the trees. Scenery is my weak point in my modeling skills so I really appreciate seeing beautiful work. It inspires me to "give it another go".
