Scale Warships

I have many hobbies including Astronomy, Ornithology, Photography etc In recent years following major surgery I took up scale warship in 1/72 and 1/96 scale fully radio controlled and totally scratch built, right down to the electronics for controlling the ships.  The HMS Loch Killisport (shown below) took over two years and valued at over $3K  I served on this vessel in 1951/2   I also have built The HMS Manchester (1942) and last year a German dive team used the model as a familiarisation project prior to the dive of Libya where the wreck has lain since 1942 after being torpedoed on the Malta Convoys (Crossbow) See my web page for more details.

I love ships myself as well (both to model and to travel on), but scratch building them is a bit too much for me ;) I'm more into tall ships, which is why I haven't really looked into scratch building them =)

I also build one meter class yachts.
The hull is made from .8 mm model ply. and cut into small plates...

Always have great respect for those who take up the scratchbuild route. Just because I know I'll never have the skills to do something like that.
