Just thought i would start a thread that can document some of the great photo galleries that folks post on various scenes to model. these have been posted in other threads, but thought reposting them in one thread might make it easier to parouse them. I find photos like this invaluable when dreaming up new ideas for scenes to model! Please keep adding to these for folks reference!

Car Transport photos from bill

I dug into Japanese language Wikipdedia and found a few pages with photos.

Im wondering if this is the best way to present/collect these on the forum or would it be better to use the link section. that is a bit limited, but could probably be broken down better with sub categories. each link could then have a brief description line as well! dont think the wiki is the right place for this kind of just pure photo linking, but maybe sprinkled into the wiki with some of the refs on pertinent pages by those folks guiding those  wiki pages.

Bernard what do you think? if yes i can go ahead and whip a link section/subsection/lins up for what we have so far. could then just post to this thread to let folks know new stuff added (and what) so they get the poke to go look.

Jeff - I think it might be worth a try.
What I like about this idea of the scenes photos is that it is a good reference if you plan to build for example a diorama or a scene. The cross referencing would be useful in lets say you were build a tunnel portal and then you might need another photo for a railroad bumper.
The easiest and most accessible resource design would work the best.

I just took a whole bunch of pictures on the way in from Narita today on the NEX. Very hard to take pictures from a moving train, but I needed some reference items for my layout. I hope this stuff may be useful for some of you too.

Someone should make a Google Earth file with a bunch of different placemarks for places that have street view...

actually have been playing with that. unfortunately google maps is just a tad hard to get things just right to do this easily. not really meant to work that way i guess. as great as google maps is, how you drop placemakers, and locations isnt all that simple and intuitive.

the only simple and clean way i have found to save an interesting google street view i find is to save the link to it. i cant find an easy way to drop a pin that recreates the view you currently have on screen. the link does do this.

I am going away for a couple of weeks (work related) so you have plenty of time to think about this 

I am looking for images of small rural Japanese stations and their surrounds as I plan to have my layout as a through rural station set in a small town, with the ability to take some local freight.  If anyone has such images or can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

While reading about "painted trains" over in prototypes, ISO8 posted a few links.

This picture stood out. I think this would make a great scene, and it's small enough it could even be a T-trak module.  Just create a spur track that goes behind/into an industrial area..

I think the hardest part for me would be finding an N-scale car that I would want to paint over!
