Nice haul but too modern for my era.

Luckily I don't have an Era. :).   Though I have been trying to keep it within things used (not necessarily new -- can be old stuff still in service) from about 2000 through today, as most of my attachment to Japanese trains is emotional.  We go there every other year and ride lots of trains.  Having said that, I have been looking at and been tempted by some older stuff.    Stuff from the 50s and 60s.  Have to control the urge.

All new re-releases or I think the red EF510 is a new release (since its part number does not ace a -X on it).

Kato 3059 is a re-release.

OK, good to know.  Thanks.

I am not sure how KATO does their part numbers.  Some have a -X appended (3065-3 for the other EF510 re-release I got) so I made the, obviously bad, assumption that the dash number signified a release.

Thanks!

The -X numbers are just variants of the original XXXX number. Usually just paint job etc.

But that doesn't explain why there is a 3059 and 3065 EF510 sets.  Other than at a guess they decided to start using the -X numbers after 3065 was first released.

Ah, ok, thanks.  I had not noticed that 3065-5 and 3065-3 were different paint jobs of an EF510.  Makes you wonder about the 3059 and 3065 :) as you said.  Thanks for the explanation.

More Koki arrived from MTP. I think I have enough for now, with over 70 in N scale and a dozen in HO.

Vital construction equipment. Actually as of last night I've passed peak chopstick usage, these ones are needed to replace the ones I nicked from the emergency supplies.

I knew there was a reason we bought a pack or two at Daiso when we were there in December

Went down to the local model train show today, fortunately, there were two vendors RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER selling Kato Unitrack, so, being the horrible human being I am, I pinned them against each other in order to get the best deal! Maybe I'll go back tomorrow for round 2? :grin

Yamato delivered my Kato E351 Super Azusa today from a Amiami. I have wanted this set for a long time and like the Kato 883s, their prices have been a bit ridiculous on the second hand market. I’m really glad they decided to re-issue this as they are a great looking train. I’m sure Kato will release the E353 this year too as they’re mentioned in the description.

Also received a couple of the Tomix HO Koki 200s to add some variety to my HO freight.

Looks like the colour variants of the EF510-500s are under 3065 whereas the purpose built JRF EF510-0s under 3059. There may be subtle differences in the body, skirts or roof equipment position. Minor detail but the EF510-500 have covered whistles mounted on the roof on the drivers side of the cab. EF510-0s have a whistle mounted in the centre. 500s also have a distress flare mounted on the opposite side to the whistle but I’m not sure if the 0s have this. Also the 0s didn’t have a roof mounted radio antenna.

If you check the Assyparts list, the chassis’ have different catalogue numbers too surprisingly.

Just (pre-)ordered one of the new series of 3 coach Hakone Tozan units in Glacier Express livery. Plaza Japan have them over on Evil Bay...

Modemo are doing a new series under the number Nt 161...

There’s  also a Moha 1 listed with Sheep livery, for a not entirely unreasonable price.... Tempting! (Nt 73)

Can you post a picture of what the headmark looks like with the LED unit? I ordered the upgrade parts for mine but am curious how much brighter it is.

I'm starting to wonder if USPS lost my most recent package, it's been MIA for close to a week...

I had USPS's New York sorting office send one from MB Kleins to Norway instead of Australia about a year ago, when it finally arrived it had a Norwegian post office sticker on it to prove it.

Another went missing last year coming the same way and hasn't showed up anywhere yet, Australia Post showed it for a while as coming from Ascension Island until it disappeared so I think it's gone for good.

The last was the first ever to go missing in all the years I've been getting trains from Japan, USA, UK and Germany so I now pay the extra for the higher postage rate so I can at least track them every step of the way even if USPS do send them on a world tour.

Managed to get hold of a SaHa 103 for my attempt to turn a Kato four car "New 103 Series" set into an eight car Osaka Loop Line one. Still need a dummy MoHa pair and another SaHa but it's going the right way now!

I know I could have just bought the current extension set for the Chuo line 103 (contains the cars I need to extend my four car set) but that would inevitably have led to ending up with a full Chuo set as well as the Osaka one.

Hey nah00

The LEDs are nice and bright on the updated version. Standard Kato controller set to a low level give a pretty bright head/taillight and front display.

That is better than any story I can tell.  I have one that I should get today that kind of took a tour of the US for a few extra days before arriving at the local distribution center this weekend.    Mine originated in Germany and went through the NY distribution office as well.   I think some of these guys have a few extra to drink before showing up for work sometimes.

Luckily Amazon does that plastic wrap thing so nothing got lost with the damaged box.

A bunch of Diesels, a couple electrics, a bunch of freight cars, and a bunch of containers.  And another Tomix cleaning car.

While this is called "Imperial Livery" by many sellers, my understanding is, that for a real "Imperial" prototype, you need to buy a hard-to0find upgrade kit that has red insulators, and the various "Imperial" insignia etc.
