Kato components to build a carbarn for my Unitram layout. Another victim of SAL. Shipped October 19, arrived December 16th.

20-016 Open Pit Track 186mm

20-174 R150-45 curves

20-172 R183-45 curves

23-300 Long Engine House kit

But alas there is no room for this on my current tram layout.. May be later.  :grin

Kiha 04 Tomytec on order. I cannot make sense of HS site as to the power chassis I need.

Any ideas?

For this Kiha 04 HS mentions 11R which would be the TM-11R.    http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10311057

The chassis required is clearer on this PDF poster.  http://www.tomytec.co.jp/diocolle/items/pdf/newitem_20171213_05.pdf  Just above the chart.

Nariichi found me a forgotten EF30 in his shop, right as I bought one off Buyee!  Guess I can double head now!  I may pull the drive gears and motor connections from the second loco, so I dont have to worry about converting them both when I run on DCC.  Sadly it turns out that the series 50 coach set wasn't actually in stock, so I'll need to find that someplace else.

I'm right on the verge of jumping deep into shinkansen territory with two JR East E4 sets, but I'm just a bit bothered by the fact that they're 1:160, rather than 1:150 like the commuter equipment I currently have. Let me ask you guys this, when you have a shinkansen sitting next to a piece of 1:150 equipment, is there a big noticeable difference in size?

While I don't have Shinkansen I do have European Trains which are 1:160. So far I haven't been able to notice any real size difference compared to 1:150 scale Japanese trains. I think you'd have to take a millimeter scaled ruler to them to see it :D

Not really. You don't often see Shinkansens close to "normal" trains anyway (except maybe on the Yamagata and Akita lines) and even with the scale difference the Shinkansen cars (particularly the double-decker ones) are still larger all round, so unless you get all neurotic about it (or get silly and couple 1:160 and 1:150 cars together), the difference doesn't stand out.

Hi Bill and Pauljag900,

Thanks for your help. I will put an order in with HS  for the chassis and a trailer kit for these two.

Best wishes

EF30 arrived today from Nariichi from his Super Sale. Bargain at £29 and even having paid HMRC and the Post Office their cut, I am very pleased with the loco.

Headboards for 4 named trains included.

Excellent service from Modeltrain Plus.

Sort of retro modelling as these two old (and super cheap) controllers arrived quite early.

I dont think I will do much with those for the moment but I was just curious to run some tests.

Tomix 5001 Power Unit, 2 x Tomix 5002 Control box and Tomix 5504 Power Unit

Cheers!

I also got these carriages with the EH500 but I have no use for them.

1x Kato 4084 SaShi 581 (But Iam quite sure it says SaRo 581-33 on the carriage itself)

2x Kato 5017 OHaFu 13

If someone is interested drop me a message.

Some new Tomytec buildings. And a Greenmax catalog. Planning on stepping out of my Kato comfort zone.

Tomytec buildings are a cheaper alternative to Kato ones, and come in a wide variety for different needs!

GreenMax & MA models are niche and nice, but costly and feels rather plastic as compared to Kato or Tomix models.... But they only make certain models so...
