Hi all,

Being the Shinkansen collector that I am, I had to get the mother of al Shinkansen, the Series 1000 (Unit A).

So when this Microace came along, I had to buy it.

Nice.

Quick suggestion - avoid using a flash when taking pictures of trains, counter-intuitively it makes them look darker.

2 parcel dropped off from Ami these days:

Parcel one is a small order of some diorama parts for more building... That motorcycle is really cute!

The 2nd parcel is another train that I have been waiting, the 103 series Osaka Power Loop! Look at all the graphics! I'm sure this train will be an eye catcher running on the layout!

finally received my order from AmiAmi . I thought my recent order from Hobbysearch was slow at 21  days, but this took 27 days. whats happening to airfreight? up till these orders , i had never had anything take longer than 15 days with SAL . The Greenmax drive had slight damage to box and was 1980 yen. Lovely runner! I know i said i would not order the set of airport fire engines , but they look so nice.

I fully agree. I very much like mine, but it looks a lot better with the knuckle couplers.

Its a huge improvement.  I just wish tomix cars were compatible with kato/literally every other manufacturer's knuckle design.

Okay, so I'm trying to be cheap here, would it look terribly weird for me use an 2-car extension set designed for the E231 on an E233 set instead?

So, after lots of waiting I had 2 and 3/4 sets of Kato E217-series rolling stock arrive from Japan. Along with the East-I maintenance train from Microace.

(Am I the only one who thinks the MA set look really short compared to the rest of the equipment?)

Considering what the train is used for no, given that the East i D is used as a diagnostic train it does not need to be the same length as passenger trains, it only needs enough space for all of the associated testing and monitoring equipment and it's crew.

Ah, I meant more of height-wise than length-wise. Here's a picture of a comparison between the Kato E217 and the MA E193 series, and it just doesn't seem very tall compared to a standard train.

Now I don't have any dimensions for the actual train, but is this pretty much correct?

It's hard to take photos of this one to do it justice.

Kato 2017-9 C62 2 "Swallow Angel" Umekoji - Kato Model Trains Kyoto Station Limited Model

Special thanks to Keitaro for driving all the way to Kyoto to get one of these for me (now sold out).

Looks similar to me. You are include the roof accessories also when comparing heights?

You know, when writing this, I really didn't take that big equipment bulge on the roof into account. I suppose it doesn't seem as bad now.

On a different note, just got around to picking up an 11 car set of the E257-series cars for a decent price, so I guess that's good.

Also bear in mind it needs to be able to go everywhere on the network, including the low-profile tunnels on the Chuo Line etc.
