The rest of the Twilight Express arrived along with the first DD51. Hopefully next week I can order the other one and the first two packs of the Cassiopeia...

This is so exciting, having to wait for my own Twilight Express set while admiring the Twilight express sets from others! Glad it was a good (and easy) choice to make, it looks great as a nice sleeper train! I feel that it looks even better than the boring Grey Cassiopeia!

And the ED79 arrived. Interestingly it didn't include a Twilight Express headboard but does have a Cassiopeia one.

On a YouTube film I've seen taken at the Hokkaido changeover point, the Cassiopeia arrives with the ED79 carrying the headboard followed by the Twilight Express which doesn't have a headboard..Both trains leave behind the customary pairs of DD51s with headboards. The two trains are reversed during the changeover process and are in the platform's simultaneously

I'm somewhat committed to the Cassiopeia next anyway, ordered the motorised KaYa 27-500 for it last week. Waiting for a dispatch email from Plaza Japan, presumably they're waiting for the Tomix parts I ordered at the same time.

What's really strange is, isn't all bus cases supposed to hold 18 buses? (last picture) Why does mine only holds 16 (2nd last picture)  ???

I found my answer....

https://www.tomytec.co.jp/diocolle/news/20180718/index.html

It seems Tomytec will replace the decal and not the urethane? A cheap trick to what was printed wrongly... It looked like the Urethane should be able to hold 18... Even Tour buses in collection 17, which are much taller, can hold 18 buses...

The other parcel contains the much awaited B.B. Base! The painting is really nice!

Received my unremarkable order of EF58, EF66, and a casco box and some couplers from AmiAmi. What IS remarkable about this very usual order is that it weighs 1.3 kg and should have been shipped with SAL small packet. Instead, AmiAmi shipped and invoiced it with SAL Parcel, insisting that it weighs 2 kg and is not eligible for Small Parcel, even when I pointed it out to them that the shipping and their weight estimates was clearly incorrect.

Sending yet another angry complaint e-mail to AmiAmi.... (second botched shipment this year!) 😡

Or does gravity work different in the AmiAmi warehouse?

Got my first ZenMarket.JP parcel.   They don't tell you the cost estimates for shipping beforehand.  I chose DHL.  That was the second cheapest, and was beat bye Fedex by some 7 cents.  SAL Parcel (it was over 2kg) and all the others were more expensive -- often significantly.  And DHL got it to me in about 2 days.  First non-Amazon DHL from Japan.

I won't be doing a lot on ZenMarket because I am not supposed to be getting new stuff -- self imposed moratorium -- and I can get my SIL to get me stuff and keep it and periodically send it, which may save over time...

Anyway

The box -- well wrapped, and a small box just big enough to fit stuff (important for dimensional weights for international shipping)

KATO Cassiopeia EF81 and 10-399 "CASSIOPEIA" car set came together and with Japan GST and domestic shipping was around US$ 75.  DD51 was separate and with domestic shipping was around US$ 34.

Some MicroAce HB-E300 "resort liner" 2 car sets.  They were separate listings from the same guy and together with domestic shipping were US$ 124 all together.  Will add to  my KATO HB-E300 4 car set (with the trees)

Greenmax Nanohana KiHa 200 with motor car.  And separately a Greenmax KiHa 220 motor car.   I already had a double trailer Nanohana and wanted a motor car.  About US$ 76 with domestic shipping.   The KiHa 220 was from a broken up set and came with some couplers and small pieces and was about US$ 34 with domestic shipping.  I got that to use with my doble trailer SSL and Red KiHa 200 cars.
