Because the current station names are apparently not clear enough.

I can't imagine the confusion that people have had since 1929 when this route opened     ;-)

According to Google Maps, from the station of the cable car, which is obviously what Keihan uses as reference, it is 900 meter vs 950 meter to respectively Sakamoto Station and Matsunobamba Station. So it is basically the same.

I walk down from Enryaku-ji. The Matsunobamba station is significantly closer for me, maybe 10 mins vs. 5 mins.

To me it's quite simple now. The station is called Sakamoto (for now) and the cable car is simply called Sakamoto Cable. So when you exit Sakamoto station there is a big sign saying go to the left to walk up to Sakamoto Cable. And at Enryaku-ji, there are lots of signs that say Sakamoto Cable this way. So it's natural that one would transfer to Sakamoto station after taking the Sakamoto Cable down.

Prefer the Mother Lake pale blue colour livery.

As for station names.  It is a Japan wide thing at the moment.  Many transport companies seems to be freaking out about the 2020 Olympics and think everyone that attends will be confused about the station.

PErsonally though, I though the Otsu area would have been safe.  Kyoto being one of the most heavily visited areas in Japan.  Kurama and Biwako never get any love.

so I've been busy as well.

note. Adapting the PLATZ Chihayafuru decals to fit the TomyTec model is not for the feint of heart ... took a lot of tweaking and re-scaling and sweat and tears ...

The Mother Lake model is just a test while the Chihayafuru one was slowly coming together ... I think it came out ok ... might give it another pass if I have time.

sorry not the best of photos ...

crap inline images have been disabled ... guess attachments will have to do

Next is the Patoden one (the Police Car colors) ... well I'll attempt it

Kudos Gordon, excellent work with the paint and decals, especially having to Frankenstein them! I think you win the decaling award!

Was this not long after they were converted from 350 Series to 700 Series cars.

I don't have the specific dates, but basically right after they converted units 701-702 from former cars 360-361

I did not know the made the 700s from old units.

I am thinking of doing this next ... back in 2015, Keihan celebrated it's Centenary ... they even turned a 2600 series train into a museum train for a while with a livery reminiscent of the old 1550 series cars

As the Otsu lines didn't get any love (well one train got stickers) I thought I'd make a fantasy model that'll look something like this )apologies for the crude mockup):

mockup24MAR17.png

loosely based off of this:

11218525_p0.png

should be relatively simple to make ... trickiest part will be which shade of green to use

Will be a nice relaxing project before I tackle this one (this one will be easier than the Chihayafuru model ... but the same problems exist here ... the GM kit is oversized so that means adapting the decals to fit the TomyTec models is a challenge. At least on this one the ends are a hell of a lot simpler ... just need to get the swoops to line up and look good ... the rest can be done with paint (or so the plan goes):

judging from the paint/corrosion/damage checks ... and the training wheels ... it looks like Keihan train 707F (707-708) might be the first to wear the new colors ...

The workshp bogies are further proof of the Otsusen's intensive recycling program, they are the stripped down bogies of the 80 Series.

(I'm actually impressed it fit (well barely) within the Sakamoto Interlocking)

That's pretty neat to see actually! Then again, I'm a sucker for door cutting operations.
