May have posted the same in some old thread but...

1. kiha 40, either Micro Ace reissue or some other company, price it no more than 15,000 yen. JNR color please, not garish 1990's-era JR regional colors

 

2. A 15~16m long generic pre-war steel-bodied axle-hung motor EMU, three window cab type, either two or three doors/side. Equalizer bar bogies.  Appearance similar to this:

 

3. A series of structure kits in polystyrene, call it the Showa 35~45 Golden Age Series based around a rural/small town station square.  Doesn't have to be superdetailed to keep price down and a generic anywheresville feeling- just decent molding, even can be snap together. Kits would be these:

-rural station big enough to have a parcels window and a bay window for a small CTC installation

-platforms with a short roof canopy and a wooden/surplus rail pedestrian overbridge

-freight shed w/platform

-taxi company office/garage

-Nittsu office

-ekimae ryokan structure

-shokudo (restaurant) and general store pair

My own thoughts then turned to specific loco types.

 

Steam

 

In the style of recent releases from Tramway and Tenshodo, I'd like to see more JNR steam as diecast/plastic RTR models. My personal preferences would be these :

 

1. A8 class 2-4-2T. Many were sold to private railways and continued to run until very late in the steam era. There were many variations in airbrake equipment fitted, headlights, bunkers etc. which could be provided for. 

 

2. B6/2120/2400 class 0-6-2T. Same comments as above.

 

3. C61 4-6-4. I've always thought these engines were better looking than the C62s. And having an operating example - C6120 -  might tempt modern era modellers to buy one as well.

 

4. D50 2-8-2/D60 2-8-4. A big engine with many variations of smoke diverters and deflectors, smokestacks and headlights. A personal favourite.

 

Electric

 

I'd like to see some older JNR types, again with emphasis on those which were sold on to private lines, broadening their appeal. And I'd also like an ED60/61/62 series loco and their AC equivalent, an ED70.

 

Diesel

 

I'm still thinking about these...

On the subject of diesels, all of the common types have been produced in HO, which only leaves the more esoteric classes produced in small numbers. Of those, I'd like to see a DD53, and perhaps a DF90. As for diesel railcars, a Kiha 07 would be useful, as these were also sold on to private lines.

 

Also, thinking some more about electric locos, I'd love to see someone do both ED16 and ED19 boxcabs.

Does Tomix's Type 3000 Takamatsu-Kotohira fit this requirement? Not identical but close?

Andrew, the Tomix Kotoden cars are lovely models - I now have eight of them! - but they're short cars, only 14m. They also have a 2 window cab with a terminal door, so they tend to be very recognisable as Kotoden stock. A generic EMU like bb suggests would be very useful.

I wonder if somebody from Tramway has been reading this thread? Not only are they releasing models of the ED60/61/62 series of electric locos, but they have announced a group of models based on the cold weather DD13s and DD14 locos and their accompanying snowploughs. Looks like I'll be spending a bit more money with Keitaro!

I've seen them from time to time, and been tempted more than once to buy one. But for now I'd rather not take on any more re-motoring and detailing projects until I finish off all the ones I've started! :)

I know the recently posted video shows them between Deki 400's, but those aren't available either.

at the risk of being cheeky, there's a wonderful kit-based keio 5000 out now in HO scale.  so, i'd "love to see it in HO scale" by which i mean "I wish somebody would build and sell it to me at a bargain price" though it actually exists.

 

keio 5000 - probably the most beautiful train not available in standard n scale from a regular manufacturer.

I would love to see the JR 500 made affordable in HO scale,  the Star 21 concept train,  the 283 series ocean arrow all of those trains in HO scale would be awesome. I cant remember what the other trains I want in HO are called.

Here we are in 2018, and most of the locos on my wish list have been manufactured - C61, ED60/61/62, ED16 and ED71. Now I'm just hanging out for a D50/60 and an ED19. :)

As I expected, Tramway have announced a C60 4-6-4, a simple modification of their existing C59. Which is great news - I wonder how long it will be before they or Tenshodo release a D50 or D60?
