JR/JNR 14 & 24/25 Series Passenger Cars - White, Silver & Gold Band

Hello all fellow members,

 

can anyone advise if there is any significant difference (or meaning) with the different color of the band across the blue passenger car bodies?

 

Eg. 14/15 Series Fuji & Hayabuysa Train has White Band vs 24/25 Series Hokutosei has Gold Band, some others are silver.

 

Can that be the type of service or distance, etc? or just the way they produced the cars

Gold was introduced on the Hokutosei cars, perhaps to give a premium image (they are more cruise trains than the original blue trains).
