JRM at Washington DC Cherry Blossom Sakura Matsuri April 12

Whoops i though i had posted this that JRM is back at the Sakura Matsuri street festival at the DC cherry blossom festival this Saturday, April 12 from 10.30a - 6p. This will be our sixth year at the event.

 

come on down if you are in town and join us. bring a train to run! Miyakoji is coming down and Krackel Hopper and Rapit Bunny will be out for a visit as well!

 

Crowds may be huge as looking to be that perfect 70 degree day with just a bit of cloud cover and peak bloom is just happening!

 

We will be at the southeast corner of Pennsylvania and 13th. Look for Goji on top of our tent!

Just a followup. 

 

The festival went really well. 6th year doing it so we pretty much knew what to expect. It was perfect weather, 75 and sunny, and cherry blossoms at peak bloom so the crowds were out in force! The event opened at 10.30 this year and it seemed like crowds where there right away (helped that we are located right near the entrance!). Usually there are some lulls at times during the day but this year it seemed like a those did not happen, pretty much a constant crowd at the layout. I think this may be one of the festivals largest attendance.

 

We were flanked by JR East and JR Central. JR East brought us another train set and a bag of misc train cars, track and such they had stashed somewhere in the office! Very generous of them to donate it to the club! JR East had their large 4' long models of the E5 and E6 end cars and a brand new E7 as well! It was wonderful as they had these out without a protective case over them so you could run your hands along them, really nice to do and your hand just wants to do it (like watching people in the apple store caress the macs!). JR Central had an end car maglev model under plex.

 

Miyakoji made it down from philly for the day to visit and check out the festival and Krackle Hopper and Rapit Bunny were out for a 4 day visit to Washington DC, the cherry blossoms, and the festival from Kansas! A number of JRM members got to have a nice japanese dinner with them friday night.
