I spent a day on Usui Pass in November 1996 videoing trains, it was an interesting operation.

I totally approve of this video. 

 

The nice thing is you see operations of the earlier Asama limited express train that runs between Ueno and Nagano or Naoetsu, which in a few weeks would be replaced by the Shinkansen train of the same name.
