Can someone point me to a website where I can find an image of each individual car in the 12 car configuration. It is my understanding and believe i have confirmed that Kato's 10-340 and 10-341 x 2 sets are not prototypical. In particular the set does not accurately depict the 9th car which is suppose to be car number E148. Just curious to see an image of the original. Can anyone help.

Hello Mr hectorton,

The Kato product does not depict car 2, 3, 4, and 9.  To make car 2, 3, and 4 is a straight-forward proposition.  Car 9 requires all lower level windows to be shifted and upper level window to be added.

So if I want to buy a MAX the chois is Tomix?

if you want the complete and correct car formation you haven't choice, of course, Kato is really beautifull, only the coupling system is a little bit "wrong" (too simple to break and forget spare parts...) and also available only in the original livery

Tomix have the same quality (last release in renewed livery is the best, old livery and first renewed livery release are similar to Kato) and you can buy it in old/new/new with Toki mark livery (released the past month and still available from loco1hobby)

p.s. Kato E1 is a long time out of stock, you can find it only used and pray to find one without broken coupling.

ciao

Massimo
