Tomix 92205 J.r. Diesel Train Series KIHA58 Intructions and Couplers

I am just starting to model the Japanese prototype trains. I purchased this set from a dealer and it came with no instructions and was missing couplers. Without the instructions, I have no idea on how to install all of the extra parts that came with the set. I would also find a source for the couplers that are missing. Thank you for any help and information.

First off we to know which manufacturer made the set and item number if you have it.

EDIT: its in the heading TOMIX 92205

The 92205 is a discontinued item.  Its no longer on the Tomix list of active item numbers. Instructions are always in Japanese but with diagrams. Most of the time they are not that much of a help if you know basic model railroading. If not the list members can fill you in.

Hobby Search does not show a specific coupler for the Kiha 58.  There are various Tomix couplers available, though.  Here`s four choices.  SAL shipping would be appropriate.

Fully Automatic Type TN Coupler (for Kiha10, Kiha55, Meitetsu Series 7000 etc.)

I find it weird that they're missing couplers.. These are body mount TN couplers. Are you sure they are missing? It's quite a task to actually remove these.

Do not buy any of the couplers listed by Bill. They will not fit this set. When I get home, I'll scan the instructions of my KiHa 58 set and also let you know the part number for the coupler. Take a pic of your set and post as I highly doubt the couplers are actually missing. Sounds like you may be missing the dry transfers though and the destination stickers.

BTW have you also taken the set out and looked underneath the styrofoam? Sometimes they hide under there. IF the set is old enough (but can't recall the modern Tomix KiHa 58 fits this category), the instructions are printed on the back of the label on the case. But I believe this much newer for this.

Alright here we go.. These are the instructions for my KiHa 58 Takayama set but should apply equally to your set. Just ignore the info for the SaRo 28 and KiHa 28.

For couplers, you need JC64 for the cab end:

And JC62 for the non-cab end:

I have no idea why Tomix calls these "fully automatic" couplers because if are completely the opposite...

Hope this helps.
