After the 29 Sept. Typhoon passed Tokyo and disrupted train lines, I went to Omiya where this passed twice.

If the Maya 50 was build from the original 50 series.  Which were build from other coaches again.  does it still have it's diesel engine fitted.  Or is it removed to prevent vibrations?

This seems to be a different car than what they are currently using?

Here is a youtube video of the East-I D train with the additional camera car.

It does look different, at least from the picture you posted. The camera bays are irregular in the youtube video, rather than aligned in your picture. Also there seem to be more of them  I also did not know any of these were available in N Gauge, or is it homemade?

Unless it's some garage kit, I think it was scratchbuilt. I've not seen a camera car like this for sale and the set just comes with the set of 3 cars. Would be a great kit for world kougi! Maybe microace would want to try an emperor's car stunt like kato and get some publicity from a riot or two!

The custom model above is the maya50-5001 (the prototype and the model is not motored anymore). I'm not sure if the video shows the other side of the same car or it's a different maya50 or if it was rebuilt since the wikipedia entry and the model was made.
