Hoping to go back to Japan at some point so will hopefully will get the opportunity to take more pictures. Unfortunatly, the exchange rate with the Yen is not to good at the moment, so it maybe sometime before I return! Afew more pictures for you, one of the Shonan monorail at Ofuna, another from the Enoden line, a couple of the romantic train at Arashiama, and a model railway display in the Porta shopping center under Kyoto station. I'd left from Kyoto Station and seen it in the museum yards near the turntable but had thought there may be another consist running... after treking through the rain there was no services... Must get there this time... it's beautiful... did you actually travel on it? Link to comment

I wanted a good shot of Tokyo Station and they were doing all that construction work. Feet hurt too much to try and get a shot on the hill that blocked out construction. Link to comment

Must get there this time... it's beautiful... did you actually travel on it? Yes, we travelled on it. It is a little expensive, but worth the trip. Its a very senic run down a river valley, one of the car's has no windows and grates in the floor allowing you to look at the floor below, which is good when they stop the train on a bridge over the river! Was a fun trip, even if the seats are a little hard. Some more pics from the romantic train, a few from the modern transportation museum in Osaka, and a Shinkansen. Link to comment

I would have liked to get more pictures of the station but with all the work going on and the screens that have been put up around the station made it next to impossible to photograph. Some more shinkansen, some shots at Hiroshima station and some hiroshima trams. Link to comment

Not sure about their purpose, but the ones in the picture stand proudly on the platform of one of the stations the romantic train stops at. When the train arrives, a tune is played by bells hung on a structure above the Tanuki. Link to comment
