I like the tools set.....

WTF.. Nice tool set but are you kidding me?!?!? Y9,800 for that? No way Jose!!!! On the other hand, the apron is awesome though hahaha.

The E1 announcement is awesome. But I don't see the justification for calling the old set "crap". It's a great set with 2 powered cars. What's wrong with it? This set will probably add at least a flywheel but no guarantees of power conducting couplers. And likely the same mould for everything else.

BTW, THANK YOU for including the original, non-translated webpage. Thank you!!!

Yeah, nice tool set but that price, really, what were they thinking?

Collectors who will buy it, never open it and leave it on the shelf until such time they forget about it, or till they figure they can sell it for three times that on eBay.

Pre-ordered..

Prices have sure gone up though. The base set alone is almost as expensive as what I paid for the limited edition 8 car N700-8000 (15.130 vs 17.600), but then I noticed the 8 car N700-8000 is up to 21.080 ..

beleive it or not but my finger slipped on 2 then on preorder for the 100 series limited edition that also went up.

the e1 is a 6 car and 6 car ?? making 12 car formation, one is cheaper than other as no motor ???

i'm giving it a miss as it won't run on current layout with the small tunnel portals i have.

I'm guessing it's a 4 + 8 set up, although, Tomix does seem to be a bit random with how they package their sets these days :)

There are 2 power cars in the original release of the "new color" E1 and I can only assume this will stay the same for the new release.

I am pretty certain it will be a 6 + 6 set. If the original fixed position/non-retractable pantographs are used, it is IMPOSSIBLE to stuff 8 cars into a single storage casket. And even with retractable pantographs, there would be so little protective foam left that the sets likely won't survive shipping.

As for pricing, as a comparison to the old set:

New 6 car powered basic set goes from MSRP Y15,900 (for the old 3+3 set) to Y17,800

New 6 car powered add-on set goes from MSRP Y15,000 to MSRP Y16,000

For a total increase of Y2,900. Not bad considering that the original set was released some 7 years ago. Also, I am fairly certain the new set will have flywheels, power conducting couplers, and pre-applied decals which would make the modest price increase more than worth it. We'll see I guess.

BTW the old sets are here for reference:

If only it were in the original colour scheme!

I can't stand the red pinstripe colour scheme.

I've avoided buying any of the models with it.

Cheers,
