Nozomi and in the cab with Mr. Sato

Siskel & Ebert give this video 2 thumbs up!! A must see for anyone.

Mr. Sato gives a performance that should earn him an Oscar nomination in the foreign film category! Plus, how can you NOT like it! It features a 500 Nozomi, the greatest train ever made. There was tension though out. Will Mr. Sato be able to make up the 15 seconds he lost from his late departure? What will he do when the speed of the train set so fast that he can't even read the speed signs?

This was a wonderful breakdown of the operation of the Shinkansen system. When they explained how complex the dispatching is and how many trains are involved it's mind boggling. Also the engineers dress more like airline pilots.

That's the way pretty much all front line railway employees dress on Japanese railways.

Bill - The LIRR (the train I take to work) consistently runs late that after a while they just put out a new schedule. And the engineers dress code is to wear the jersey of your favorite sports team.  ;D

That beats MARC's dress code a T-shirt and jeans.

They wear jeans?!

Most LIRR engineers wear shorts.

Hey Bill,  do you think we can get Mr. Sato and that cute little w. reporter who did all those measurements on trains (from one of your earlier threads) together for a series? It would sure beat the host of "Extreme Trains".
