I'll definitely get the Tōbu 634 Series stickers to put on my own Skytree Train!

The Meitetsu EL120 for now is released with a motor & trailer unit, but the .pdf also states that there will be a twin motor set, single motor set, and twin trailer set in the future. I'm kind of interested in the single motor set, as it's a super cute engine that could fit in almost any private railway setting.

I think this series of announcements look like they might interest some people here! ;) The 113-7700 Obama line livery was one I hadn't seen before. It's pretty stunning...

Aaawww.... seems like a no-brainer for a painted train lover.... Dang... Least it is a full 8-car train. it's actually not too expensive for a painted when compared to a 7-car 653-1000 Inaho...

It's a 103 series though... Why not a 201 series....

Which do you mean? Did GM announce something like that?

It states so in the pamphlet:

Maybe I'm just being miserly but you would think for what the Skytree Train cost they could have stuck the sticker sheet in with it...

Not really. Greenmax has had this policy already for years, so it's to be expected. It also creates a lively 3rd party market.

Hey I was browsing back this thread and realize that we didn't eventually see this model come up... or did I miss it?

A quick search for "グリーンマックス ライオンズマンション" reveals nothing beyond references to the original 2016 announcement and pictures of the prototype at various shows. Still, it's only half-a-year late so far, not much in model railway terms ;)

Indeed... Thought it looked really nice as a private condominium apartment ~~

Very beautiful color!

Yes it is, I was very tempted at first to buy this, but since gotten the 8000 series in Tojo color I thought I would pass this. By the way, Ami has this on sale at a VERY good price:

Their last modular building was over a year late so no surprise. They ended up canning that one pretty fast. Is this one expandable or a set size?

It's not a withdrawn product.  That picture is on page 9 of the 2017 Greenmax catalog.  Must still be a future project.

It's the "Lion's Mansion" prototype due for release summer 2017.

Watch to see if it pops up at the Shizuoka Hobby Show. Is it this weekend?

It's sadly riding much higher on the trucks than the proto.

I've never understood why they can't somehow blacken the pickups + connectors without reducing conductivity, so we don't have to look at all that bare, shiny metal.

It's possible to do it, you just have to clean the isolating oxid layer from the actual contact points and leave the sides dark. Also it's possible to paint these non-contact parts. On the other hand, i'm fairly sure the locomotive on the picture was not assembled properly as there are huge gaps around the locomotive where the shell meets the frame and this gap is larger on one end. I think the shell should go down to meet the front skirt, which would completly hide the top of the bogie pickup plates.

Thanks kvp - That would be good if it were true, as it would also resolve the issue of the body sitting too high on the chassis.

However, I've also wondered through the years why manufacturers don't treat the brass, as there are other situations where it is all too obvious.

Of course, Jeff would say that you don't see it when looking at the model from above.
