The documentation for my EF71 says these are for powering the loco so you can clean the wheels.

Cool. I havent gotten a chance to translate mine yet.

Have you converted one to DCC? I know Tomix N scale can be tricky.

No, all my HO is still DC. DCC products are tricky to find in Japan as it’s somewhat behind compared with the US and Europe.

You can find the odd Digitrax decoder and Kato DCC controller but that’s about it unless you import things or know a good place that caters for it. Electronics is not my strong point but it’s something I’m reading up on more and more, just not quite ready to take the leap.

Best website to get DCC stuff is modeltrainstuff.com. They ship internationally and have fantastic prices.

I'm going to use Loksound and make a custom file. Finding DCC is not the problem, its just installing it when there is no plug I have never done

Depending on which card you use, it's not too bad as long as you can solder.

Lots of decoders, some tools and some scenery stuff. I'm clearing some leave so I can get things ready for the clinic I'm presenting at the Narrow Gauge convention in April.

Cheers,

Today the postie delivered another Dauphin/Tramway KiHa 53, this time in the overall No.5 vermilion livery. Like the rest of the Tramway railcar models, it's very neatly detailed and finished. It runs well too.

Temptation to acquire more HO rising....

What a great looking model!  Do the tramway DMUs come with DCC plugs like their steam locomotives models?

No, they don't. I'll have to work out how to hardwire them. There's a board in the roof of each cab for the headlights, markers and destination indicators.

Cheers,

Mark.
