Well, I first noticed pictures of under-construction 225s on Ompuchaneru in early May, and I just saw the first of these videos in the last few days.  Here's an 8-car set on special rapid service leaving Osaka for Yasu.

 

 

I'd love to ask the crews if they like these, and if there's even an appreciable difference between this and the 223, for example.

The design is aweful. Typically JR West commuter style. A lot worse than the 223 Series (and consorte), but the engine sound is just awesome!

I'm starting to grow fond of those type nose/face design. The features are sharp and strong, it gives some character to the train. But then, I don't think it fit so well the rest of the train. It would have been better on a express than on a commuter train.
