Yes, it's a sad time for all those cool Meitetsu trains to go away. Next to the demise of the old red Panorama Expresses the loss of this interestingly designed train is also a loss for the visual appeal of Meitetsu. I think they will never return to the old status of a few years ago of having some of the most interesting rolling stock. But then again, what private company runs 18m stock on 1067mm gauge in masses?

I think in a few short years some of the new red, white and black stock will be looked upon as uniquely Meitetsu--because nobody else has anything them--just as the Panorama cars and solid red stock were uniquely Meitetsu.

Pity they're being withdrawn, they're beautiful cars. I wonder if any will be sold-on to an other railway, or preserved?
