14th Australian Narrow Gauge Convention

I’m currently attending the 14th Australian Narrow Gauge Convention at Erina Heights up here on the NSW Central Coast. It’s far and away the best model railway event I’ve ever attended. I’ve made new friends, caught up with old ones, learned a lot of new things, and delivered my first clinic. I talked about modelling the railways of Japan with emphasis on the 2’6”/762mm gauge lines. To my surprise  I had a full house, and my talk was well received. And I’m flying the flag for our forum as well. At dinner last night our guest speaker was a filmmaker with some amazing video of the Ali Shan railway in Taiwan and it’s Shays.

I’m heading off soon for day two, and tomorrow we’re off to see a 2’ gauge Krauss 0-4-0T running. Living the dream!

All the best,

Mark.
