Ookuzure Kaigan - the Great Crumbling Coast

This is a very steep, mountainous section of coast just south of Shizuoka (Google maps link) which, as the name suggests, is constantly falling into the sea. Unfortunately it's also a choke point on the Tokaido route, with the Tokaido Main Line, the Tokaido Shinkansen and the Tomei Expressway all bundled very closely here. Modern tunneling methods make it feasible to go under the problematic stretch, but the original Tokaido line was routed more-or-less along the coast in the long-abandoned Sekibe Tunnel (detailed photos here).

There is some impressive drone footage of this stretch of coast available, while it mainly focuses on the ever-changing route of the road link along the coast, there are also some glimpses of where the Sekibe Tunnel  was.

I think that's a couple of black tables one stacked upside down on the other.

I suspect there was a window of opportunity for some large items which would otherwise require expensive disposal to be surreptitiously dumped before the tunnel at that end was closed off.
