Folks,

In a previous post of Dec.16th., I mentioned a tram derailment in Lisbon.

Here are further details, from the magazine 'Tramways and Urban Transport' Feb.2019.

The accident occurred in the afternoon of the 14th. Dec. on Line 25E, involving yellow car No.576 (Remodelled), which from a photo at the time this looks like one of the four-wheelers that run in that city.

The car derailed on a curve, going too fast, and whilst the wooden body was badly broken up, the frame survived.

28 people were injured, none seriously.

Regards,

Bill,

Melbourne.

The tram company blames the operator, but a supervisor says the company does not enforce speed restrictions.  The curve is at the bottom of a 13.5% grade. Its a good place to sit in the shade and wait for the trams to come to you.

My 2014 video at that corner.

Its a steep grade, but not the steepest in Lisbon.
