Fukuoka Station

It's okay, Paul, but it really needs more trains. There just isn't enough going on.

Seriously, I was impressed by the speed of the Shinkansens though. And did you leave your shed door open in winter?

Only so I could film as of much of the layout as possible,it was soon closed afterwards! 😂😂

Spent the weekend connecting up the tram tracks and getting them running, needed to change a few connectors and give it a good clean with isopropanol, bit of jigging about but working good now👍

Also marked out for the roads and placed the buildings on,nothing fixed down as yet.Tried a number of arrangements with the buildings but as it’s on the small side it was dificult to do anything special so I went with simple, better viewing and easier cleaning. The high rise will be removable for cleaning the track but all the others will be fixed.

All I need now is my other tram back from having the Dcc chip removed/ disconnected ,hopefully this week.

I could feel the hustle and bustle of Fukuoka Station.  You got lots going on there Paul!  Good stuff as always.

The buildings straight on look better than when they were curved round to follow the curve of the tram track. Buildings are generally built in block-like groups with some blocks built on a diagonal to others. You also get a few random “older” roads that cut through the middle of blocks. Then the spaces you can squeeze in small buildings to utilize every space.

Spent the last few weeks just running trains and track testing and trying to organise my trains.

what was the storage shelf on the RH side is nowthe freight yard and the old freight yard will be used to store trains.

I had 8 freight trains but I ve reduced them down to 5 but quite a bit longer.

i Swapped the 781/15 curves for 481/15 curves and managed to fit in a crossing track and used a no4 point for access to the yard.

Originally the two little clips/springs/contacts,not sure what they re called mate, the small pieces of metal that contact the strip to the motor came loose but in an attempt to repair them myself I knackered it up completely.I was unable to source the parts I needed so I sent it off to a model shop for repair. They persevered but I had to donate my Narita express for the bits needed, they modified the connections and motor and now it runs fine, not original condition😂😂but at least it’s working.

I ve started work on the mountain, due to clearance issues I could nt use any standard tunnel portals,I tried customising some I had but it looked crap as the tracks are too close together so I decided to just use the rocks on their own.

i was working on the assumption that I would need to make the top removable for cleaning, derailments and any trains stalling, but then I realised I could reach far enough inside from the end of the board,so I ve removed the end back panel for now and will cut a big hole in it then put it back in position.

this is it so far,

Still lots to do before I can plan what’s going on there but at least now it will be easier with not having to make it removable.

Came home from work at 12 and wife was in bed as she s working nights,so I thought the best way to not make any noise would be to stay out of the house and go in the shed👍😂

i managed to finish the basic shape of the mountain and get it all glued and fixed together. It looks like a big cardboard box at the moment but hopefully not when it’s finished.I also need a lot more rocks which I ve ordered.

Access will be from the back which can t be seen when the door is closed,I ll make a cover/ door for itin due course.38C001ED-55F3-4FE6-B583-54F5838D50E1.thumb.jpeg.6a07285de07190c82ae7cc6b3c72599e.jpeg

It s been a bit of a nightmare to do but but I think it was worth the effort in the end.

next job is to fit and wire the street lights all over! It could take a while.

I know this is far from normal so Appologies if I upset anyone here😂😂

i like to run my trains at night, somehow it just takes on a much better feel,I bought some 1-75 street lights to use as floodlights on the soccer pitch and had some leftover and as there s a lot of track on this version there is nt much light so I decided to use the oversize lights to illuminate the tracks!!😂

That looks amazing Paul!  I cant believe how quickly you created such an inspiring layout, my local club has had 30 years and we're still arguing over how to implement basic room lighting.
