Single viaduct track to make doubles

I suspect this may have already been covered in a previous post but I haven't found it yet. 

 

Is it possible to make a smaller radius double track viaduct by using a pair of single track viaducts (Kato 315-45deg and 348-45deg)? Do the interior walls bind? Would the concept work if the interior walls were removed? If it can work, are homemade piers the best solution?

That was what done before doubles were made.  You can use any peirs currently available, or make your own.
