Tokyo Teleport Station

Does anybody know how the Sation got this name? Its obviously not the USS Enterprise, so teleportation should be out of the quaestion.

Translated from the JP wiki article. 

The station name is derived from "Tokyo Teleport Town" which is the nickname of the Tokyo Metropolitan Prefecture sub-central city development project.

Afaik the name comes from 'telecommunications port'. It was a cargo port before and one of the first buildings were the Fuji television building. I heard this on Discovery channel so might not be accurate.

 

ps: Back then the residential highrise buildings were showcased as having 'futuristic technology' like elevators, central heating and trash collection pipes.
