Shitte to Hama-Kawasaki to Anzen Stations

Recommended Posts

These are some of the trains passing next to Hama-Kawasaki Station (Nambu Line) and from the same station on the Tsurumi Line to Anzen Station. The Beitan Tanker consist usually runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The DE-11 will appear when the Beitan runs but sometimes not on the other days.

There is an overpass to the North of the station, so the locos are in shadow close to the station. Watch the crossing before the station to when to get ready to shoot.

This one is coming from the east. There is a yellow flashing signal light in front of the platform. That lets you know a train is coming from that direction. That's it at the bottom of the picture.

This is the DE-11 coming first at 8:39.

Great shots!  It seems that on a lot of new rolling stock headlights are no longer for looking ahead at night and more for alerting others of the trains presence.

  • Densha changed the title to Shitte to Hama-Kawasaki to Anzen Stations

The Station is split into two halves and this is the crossing.  Notice that this portion is the Tsurumi Branch Line. (尻手支線)

The siding where the tank cars are parked is almost right in front of the station.

This is the crossing next to Anzen Station. It is on the far side (Hama-Kawasaki side) of Musashi Shiraishi Station. The freigh tracks runs behind the station so it might be better to shoot from outside of the station.

Great photos Grant.  I have a few pics from this area from 2005 or 2006, but not this many and not this good :)

In the sixth picture of the first post, are those UM12 containers behind EF65 2096 likely to carry garbage?

Thanks for sharing your photos.

Question for anyone.  Why and the wheels and bogies covered on the DE11?

They are used to reduce noise.

An Odakyu 3000 series, was experimentally fitted with these skirts in 2002, but they were later removed.

Miyakoji,

Yes, you are correct. That's the early morning 'garbage' train for the waste collection site near Kawasaki City. It returns very late in the afternoon. Am off to shoot stuff today. Will post more tonight. I've been sorting my daily pics by locations/stations/crossings so I've been busy.
