Finally the noodle shop. Nothing special about that one, either, only some unnecessary fuss about the interior:

The chairs were folded, with the hind legs being cut from the original parts.

agomura_110-111.thumb.jpg.c87b90cad8d27f00a2ab009d57866894.jpg

The fore legs were attached separately, just as were the legs of the tables.

The bar would have filled the whole room, and would have blocked the passage to the kitchen. Of course, you wouldn't be able to see this, but I had to cut it anyway!

The dining room slowly fills up...

Enjoy a last look on the interior befor it disappears in eternal darkness! (The waitress started off as an H0 house maid, by the way)

In the breaks, when the glue had to dry,  I've added the "nature" - Woodland turf of different colours, patches of gravel (ballast), sand, and so on...

Thus Agomura ended up as can be seen here a few posts ago (and before I can continue this construction report I will have to edit again my photos - stay tuned!)

Still have to catch up a bit with this one. I had to do a few things before Agomura could be presented at our model railway show in march:

- remove again all buildings and shrubbery

- create a transport box from corrugated card (the fastener is a glued-in shoe lace...)

- paint the base

- add some dirt to the streets and places

- add static grass (small patches only)

agomura_125.thumb.JPG.025cd03d9f90dc351c6646168bfbdf98.JPG

- add new shrubbery

agomura_127.thumb.JPG.b8d386b9b29be33a7b000c6571c23aae.JPG

- glue all buildings to the base (again taking care that there are no overhangs over the base)

agomura_126.thumb.JPG.ce3a31ce68c4becc528be5d3a7558167.JPG

- create and attach some sign boards to the station, the taxi company, and the noodle house (the latter shamelessly stolen from a real menya)

Fast forward by two month - today I've added warning crosses and barriers to the level crossings.

The crosses were drawnin COREL DRAW and printed out. Their sign posts are from two layers of card, further stiffened with ca glue. The yellow turned out to be a bit weak, and I had to paint the backsides of the crosses anyway, so I applied a tad of yellow paint to the frontsides, too.

The barriers are laser cut railings for 1/250 scale ship models.

Two more detaills:

A phone box from http://www1.m1.mediacat.ne.jp/retro/papercraft/index.html and a letter box column from scratch (the mon is hand painted, which is surprisingly easy - I hope this becomes sufficiently clear by the photo series).

Nice work as usual!

thats a nice site for store scene backdrop bits and pieces. Also fun little Tomytec like structures to quickly cut out and get some decent looking space filling buildings for folks starting out!

Ill start a new papercraft sources list for us to grow, we have a number scattered around, would be good to have a pinned topic on it as an index. Links do go dead with time, but until they die it’s a great resource. I’ve stopped bookmarking them and just mine them when I come across them.

cheers,

Jeff

Thaks Jeff!

Well, the Papercraft Models & Textures thread is already pinned, so we just have to keep it filled with life, don't we?

(Note to self: Just do it!)

Doh! I had forgotten I did that way back! I’ll go thru and clean up the links, I’m sure many are dead now. Please suggest more in that topic if you have them!

thanks for the boot to the head!

The big mystery of Agomura always was:

Why, in Bastet's name, would the doors of the ware house stand half open?

agomura_150.thumb.JPG.c5d3fb6135460a81a42ecc0bffac66c7.JPG

The answer, of course, is that the delivery man has just arrived to fetch some stuff, and is pushing open the doors the very moment!

agomura_153.thumb.JPG.f1822d9be0923965f411cac5df3a2039.JPG

The delivery man started his career as a construction worker (Merten Z2343). He got away with simply a repaint.

The truck is a '95 Suzuki Carry from http://paper-n.sakura.ne.jp/ (the set N54 is no longer available, but there are almost always one or more buildings online, which have one of the cars attached). I've changed the black outlines to a medium grey, started with a frame separated from the body, and then got carried away a wee bit...

Are you sure that's not just a really big beer bottle cap? 😄

I could try to take a picture of the truck, a complete bottle, and an off-the-shelf house cat for comparison. This might, however, take some time, because the cat tends to have his own head! 😉
