A train for the Prince of Wales while touring Japan on the Osaka Electric Railway in 1923 from the pages of the Electric Railway Journal (out of copyright).

Apparently this type (Debo 1) was in service until 1964, at the end on the Kashihara Line.  Back when it was in mainline service on the Nara Line, it made the Nara-Uehonmachi run of 30.6km in 55 minutes via the Ikoma Tunnel, which when opened as tunnel  with a double track bore was still unusual.

I'm sure that there's at least one of these cars beautifully preserved by Kintetsu. And to me they're beautiful cars, a wonderful mix of classic US interurban design with Japanes details.
