Interesting pictures, nice to see those trains have a second life. The Tokyo 8000/8500 series makes it look like the train has a face :D

Btw, what purpose do the meshes on the windscreens serve, is it to protect against vandalism?

Not really sure but it is most likely the case , there are some cases of rocks being thrown at the trainsets. (update: Just rode a 205 towards cikarang earlier today and apparently someone threw a stone on the side of the car. Yeah still happening)

As for the Tokyo 8000/8500 series, that  paint scheme is long gone now . Kinda missed it myself

So just did some more research with help from friends in the local  Japanese train enthusiast community here. Managed to acquire more details on the amount of trainsets, formations etc.

data source: https://gm-marka.com/litbang/krl/jepang/ (in Indonesian , though google translating it can still be picked up ) and http://www.krfj.net/hatenaki/ (In japaneese, but a quick google translate and crossrefrencing with the former link makes it somehow straight forward. )

Note this will be a long post and image intensive  . For now il include more detailed info about the JR205's and Tm600's. Il either edit this post later or make a new one for the rest of the EMU types here

Naming Nomenclature:

For all trainsets except ex JR East ones ( Toei, Tokyo Metro, Toyo Rapid) , the naming nomenclature remains the same. Atleast according to the first link given above ,  presumably only used by PT KCI (a sub company/branch company of PT KAI/Indoensian Railways. Responsible for the operation of the commuter line network ) . As in some or many cases the trainsets are also given black rectangular stickers on the bottom with the local standard numbering system (more on that bellow)

For the 205 series, they either have the original identification number box ( the small green one hanging in the sides of the front glass) removed or replaced by a localy made one (similar color and size but different font). An exception is Ex Nambu Line sets 11 & 12 / NaHa 10 &13 . For the ones with the localy made identification number box on the front KuHa cars, its still straight forward. The numbers directly correspond to the Kuha numbering of the cars themselves. The last 2 numbers are taken for the numbering, in the website ( the first link above) the code name of the depot is also used for the identification/naming structure , placed infront .

For example a 205 with the letterbox number of 68, means that its set set BUD68 ( BUD is the codeword for Bukit Duri )  or 205-68  with the front KuHa cars being KuHa 205-68 and KuHa 204-68

For trains with black rectangular stickers placed in each cars, the big numbers and letters usually are arranged in this format ( as with other locomotive hauled train cars/carrianges ):  [Train Class] [Type of train ] [Year that it commences operation ] [Serial Number].

For the first 3 letters of a EMU carriage in Indonesia, it is usually:  K11XXXX .  ( K1: executive class train, though it is not applicable in this case.  1: EMU car)

205-0 Trainsets (Ex Yokohama, Saikyo, Nambu and Yamanotte)

Total Trainsets in operation  :  26 10-car trainsets & 17 12-car trainsets

Nearly All Saikyo trainsets, except set  205-143 ( ex Saikyo Line set 24) which has become a 12 car train-set . Remains in their original 10 car trainset configuration.   set numbers  30 to 32  (original Saikyo line numbering) are ex Yamanotte Line Sets.  Some or Many (have to recheck on this one) have active LED destination indicator/screens.

JR 205-0 ( 205-42) ;Blue Line ( Cikarang) ;Jatinegara

205-42 , ex Saikyo Line (and ex Yamanotte) set 30. With working LED destination Indicator/screen. (black rectangular Indonesian Railways Car identification/numbering sticker visible)

Ex yokohama trainsets originally started out life here in their original 8 car configuration, but as time passed and passengers increased . The trainsets become either 10-12 car consists.

12 Car Ex Yokohama 205 trainsets are formed by 1 intact 8 car trainsets + a 4 car trainset ( made from 2 KuHa cars and2 MoHa cars.   ).   the MoHa cars in the 4 car trainsets can be from other surplus 205's from different lines ( Nambu, Saikyo)

JR205-0 ( 205-68+205-66) ;Red Line;Stasiun Cawang

205-68+205-66  , Ex Yokohama 205-0 sets H8 & H5 . 205-66 ( Set H5) has its MoHa cars from  205-133 (Nambu Line set 12 )With working LED destination Indicator/screen

While 10 car Ex Yokohama Line Trainsets are made up of 1 intact 8 car set with 2 additional cars ( MoHa ones) into the set. Usually inserted and arranged  like this:

 KuHa 205,  MoHa 205 , MoHa 204, SaHa 205,MoHa 205 , MoHa 204, MoHa 205  ( Addon) , MoHa 204 ( Addon), SaHa 204, KuHa 204

or

 KuHa 205, MoHa 205  ( Addon) , MoHa 204 ( Addon),  MoHa 205 , MoHa 204, SaHa 205,MoHa 205 , MoHa 204, SaHa 204, KuHa 204

JR 205-0(205-62);Yellow Line (Bogor);Stasiun Duri

205-62 , Ex Yokohama Line 205-0 set H2. Mixed in with MoHa 205-191 and  MoHa 204-191  from set H6 ( 205-66) .  placed between SaHa 204-102 and MoHA 204-184

Ex Nambu Line 205's are arranged in a 6+6 12 car trainset. Note that some 6 car sets have their MoHa cars taken out in order to lengthen the Ex Yokohama trainsets to 10 cars or create 4 car trainsets for 8+4 12 car trainsets.  and replaced with MoHa & SaHa cars cars or even converted KuHa cars (No converted KuHa cars, error on my part.) from other trainsets.

JR 205-0 (205-26 +205-21) ; Blue Line ( Cikarang) ; PJL 81 (Near Stasiun Bekasi)

205-26 +205-21,ex Nambu Line  sets 42 and 37 . Ser 205-21 / 37 has 2 of its MoHa cars ( 205/204- 61 ) replaced with SaHa 205-135 and SaHa 204-115 from Yokohama Set H15

Tokyo Metro 6000 Series

Total Trainsets in operation  :  11 8 car trainsets & 12 10 car trainsets

For the 8 Car trainsets , they have no LED indicators and (if I can recall, saw one of these recently but didn't take a pic of it ) some have the old gold (either painted or stickered ) numbers on the front cars when the first sets arrived way back in 2011 &2012 .  These cars were originally 10 car sets but were slashed to 8 due to the platform width only supporting 8 car trainsets back in the days (before late 2013 ish?) . And of course, they have the signature chopper control sound from their motors

Tokyo Metro 6000 ( 6033) ;Yellow Line;Stasiun Duri

Tokyo Metro 6000 set 6133 , Ex Chiyoda line set slashed into an 8 car formation. Note the absence of LED screens infront.

Tokyo Metro 6000 (6005);Yellow Line;Stasiun Cawang

Tokyo Metro 6000 set 6105

The 10 Car sets, aside from preserving their original 10 car state. Mostly if not all ( if I could recall, will check on this later) have working LED displays up front. The 10 car sets are the ones refurbished with IGBT-VVVF motors. First imported in 2016 , Including the 2nd prototype set , 6101

Tokyo Metro 6000 ( 6020) ;RedLine;Duren Kalibata

Tokyo Metro 6000 set 6120, Ex Chiyoda line set . Working LED screens indicating destination

TM6000;Blue Line;Stasiun Jatinegara

Tokyo Metro 6000 set 6101, 2nd Prototype set ( refurbished ) Shown with active LED screens (although showing "Commuter Line, note the presence of a destination card (blue colored with white text) )

Tokyo Metro 7000 Series

Total Trainsets in operation  : 3  8-car trainsets

Ex Yūrakuchō Line sets. Basically the same scenario happened with the 7000 series, distinguishable by the additional upper glass. The 7000 series is also slashed down to 8 cars from the original 10 car sets.

One set , 7121 . collided with a fuel truck in Bintaro on December 9, 2013. Claiming 7 deaths and 45 injuries , The surviving cars was scrapped in December 2014.  ( the incident was named " Tragedi Bintaro 2", due to its close location to the site of an earlier train accident in 1987  which claimed the lives of 156 people with around more than 300 more injured )

Tokyo Metro 7000; Yellow Line; Stasiun Jatinegara

Tokyo Metro 7000 Set 7122 , Ex Yūrakuchō Line sets slashed down to 8 cars

Thats it for now. Il update this post as time goes, cant really type everything down right now ( il still be active to reply but wont edit since im going to be on mobile for the rest of the day) so yeah. Enjoy !

*Quick edit, sorry for some mistakes on my part. Should have re crosschecked

Edited by fadhhz
adding more info. 2nd prototype set 6101 not 6001 . No KuHa to MoHa conversion, mistake on my part

Thanks for taking the time to post, it's interesting to see what's going on in Indonesia. Do you have any pictures of other types of train running in Indonesia that you would be able to post?

Yes I do. Asides from EMU's I also have pictures of various locomotives in action over here.

CC 206 ( 42 I GE CM20EMP); KA Argo Lawu; PJL 81 (Near Stasiun Bekasi)

CC 206 ( GE CM20EMP) , now the main workhorse of the Indonesian Railways  in Java.  Hauling freight , most executive class trains and other types of trains

CC 201 ( 63 I GE U18C); KA Matarmaja; PJL 81 (Near Stasiun Bekasi)

CC 201 ( GE U18C) , one of the oldest locomotive types still in operation over here. Mostly hauling economy class trains or Local service ones

CC 203 ( 32 I GE U20C); KA Jayakarta Premium; PJL 81 (Near Stasiun Bekasi)

CC 203 ( GE U20C) , Indonesian wide cab variant of the widely exported U20C. Same as the U18C / CC201 . Now mostly hauling Economy , mixed class trains, Business class trains  or local ones

(Locomotive naming nomenclature is based on the wheel/axle configuration. all locos above has a Co Co configuration, hence CC )

And continuing where I left off

Tōkyū 8500 Series

Total Trainsets in operation  : 5  8-car trainsets & 1  12 car trainset

Ex Tōkyū Den-en-toshi Line , as what happened with the Tokyo metro 7000 and 6000 ( non IGBT-VVVF) . These are slashed into 8 car trainsets. With the exception of set 8604F which as of now is a 12 car trainset

Tōkyū 8500 ( 8608F ) ; Yellow Line (Bogor) ; Stasiun Sudirman Baru / BNI City

Tōkyū 8500 set 8608F

Tōkyū 8500 set 8610F

Tokyo Metro 05 Series

Total Trainsets in operation  : 7  8-car trainsets

Ex Tokyo Metro  Tōzai Line , 1st batch 05 sets ( non IGBT-VVVF) . Slashed down to 8 cars, as with the other trainsets imported before the 205 series came here.  Also Some of the 05 trainsets has their interior LED screens stripped off to be retrofitted within the newer 10 car TM 6000 sets.

Set 05-107 was withdrawn in 2014 due to damaged sustained in a derailment accident

Tokyo Metro 05 ( 05-010);Blue Line (Jakarta Kota) ;Stasiun Jatinegara (2)

Tokyo Metro 05 Set 05-110

Tokyo Metro 05 ( 05-012);Yellow Line;Stasiun Jatinegara

Tokyo Metro 05 Set 05-112

JR 203 Series

Total Trainsets in operation  :1 8 car Trainsets.  2 10 Car trainsets & 2 12 car trainsets

Ex JR East Joban Line.  Originally slashed down to 8 cars. But due to the increase in passenger numbers. 2 sets has been returned to their original 10 car configuration ( 203-109 in 5+5 arangements ,   set 203-106 in 1x10 configuration ). With 2 sets  becoming 12 car sets.  1   8 car set remains ( set 203-108)

Naming nomenclature is the same with the JR 205 series

JR 203 (203-108);Yellow line (Bogor) ;Stasiun Sudirman Baru / BNI City

JR203 set 108. Ex Joban line set 68 . 8 Car set

JR203 set 106. Ex Joban line set 66 . 10 Car set

Ex JNR & JR East EMU's

JR203 set 109. Ex Joban line set 66 . 10 Car set .  Cars 5 & 6 are taken from KuHa 202-1 and KuHa 203-1 of set 51 (original Joban Line  set numbering)

Well gonna end things here. Theres still the Tokyu 8000 series,  Tokyo Metro 5000 and Toyo Rapid 1000 series to cover. But il save that for a later time. Thats it for now, cheers!
