Thanks, it was built from the finest dumpster diving Okinawa has to offer!  Technically we were supposed to be a non combatant transport ship, and not certified for ammo transport.  (then the crew would get bonus hazard pay)  But most of the trucks were loaded up to the roof and covered, so who knows what was in there!

One thing Gavino is missing, large battalions of soldiers "standing by to stand by"

(That giant pallet was all of their duffel bags, which the loader almost dropped off the pier!)

I agree. I'm looking for model soldiers who aren't in "fighting positions". If you see any let me know.

yeah all the 10mm wargaming figures are usually "battle" poses for war games, not the standing by to stand by! poser and shapeways may be the only way on these, nother project though!

I'm having the similar trouble finding WW2 German army personnel for a T-TRAK module I'm thinking of building to display my 'Leopold' K5 rail gun outside its bunker being inspected by the top brass.

If anyone knows of any? Major N scale figure makers Prieser and Merton being German seem to shy away from that type of thing.

What's the leaning curve for making figures with poser? Have you tried it?

I have not used it in years, but it was pretty easy to pose the figures. Skinning the with clothes was more work, but that was years ago! 3d does have a learning curve and requires practice as it a thing that had lots of details you tend to loose if you don’t use.

These would probably qualify. Unfortunately they're the wrong scale.

Man does that bring back memories from grad school at Berkeley. Every year our Dept got the top biochem student in China admitted into our grad program so we usually had 4 or 5 mainland China students at any time. I had a tv on my lab bench (old b/w unit I picked up for $5 for late night tv waiting for gels to finish or doing long time courses, but the only tv in the building, but then again I had fish, treefrogs, lizards and toys on my desk) and there was a crowd around it for the last couple of days of this. I remeber the very grim look on the Chinese students as they had a lot of friends there in the protest and they were sure it was going to get very ugly. Just pre web, Email and cell phones so they could only watch and have no communications. The guy in my year was one of the main student leaders a few years before and president of his class. He was well aware of the whole situation. It was a bold stand, but also a sad day.

I finally got around to buying these. The Tomytec "Jpanese Defence Force" figures. All in non-combat poses. Most of them are directing traffic or just standing around.

They look great!

Now that I have a closer look at the figures, it looks like they are the same mould as the construction workers... (https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10402495)

That's so weird. Their poses make more sense as construction workers. I was a bit puzzled by them. But I like them. And deployed soldiers are often essentially glorified construction workers, when there's no shootin' going on.

This "F-toys" 1/150 "chemical fire engine for airports", re-painted, would make an excellent water cannon. I'm going to try to track it down.

Edit: Lots available on the market for cheap. Just ordered on. If it looks good in person and I can do a good job painting it, then I'll buy a little fleet.

Wow!, an actual purpose build n-scale riot police water cannon. I'm shocked!! This price is insane, but at least I know it exists!!

A bit cheaper (still not cheap).  Though you need someone to take delivery in Japan and forward to you.

This bus with siren/flicker lights on top would be a good for transporting riot police, or an emergency police deployment.

These buses are highly sought after... I want one of those too, since they look like those mid-sized commuter buses that are often used as a community bus or a school bus... But ever since Tomytec came up with bus collection 23, these buses are less sought after since Tomytec makes better quality models overall... But I will still like one! 🙂

I have this truck, it's the secret variant from Truck collection 5... Some of the secret variants are quite interesting, I do hope there is a website to list all the secret variants of Tomytec series !

Thanks, yes, that's a reasonable price. But this is clearly a repainted Firetruck. I need to search to see if anything like this is used by riot police in Japan. The "airport chemical fire truck" looks a lot more intimidating and riot ready. I might try to copy the blue with white stripes paint scheme.

Edit: Some good reference photos

Riot police water cannon - It's similar to the Tomytec truck. Looks like a fire truck.

You can see it in this google image search window, but if you click on the image the story has been changed.
