Kita-Fuchu Station, Toshiba Fuchu Plant spurs.

Recommended Posts

I happened to pass through Kita-Fuchu Station and noticed the tracks on the west side . From the station, those tracks are about 2 meters higher. I thought it might be another line passing close by, but they are actually tracks that go to the Toshiba Fuchu Plant Complex.

Google Maps doesn't give a very good representation of the former spurs to various areas, but the Satellite imagery does. You can see a freight locomotive, perhaps an EF-64, with a switcher.

Googling Shimogawara line, (下河原線)  I found this page; EH200-21 pulled by a switcher, plus other stored cars.

Toshiba Fuchu Factory produced these results;

And this.

Now that I look at this, I think that when I went on the Musashino Line with Bikkuri Bahn and we might have seen something here, and he might have/probably mentioned this area, but I didn't know enough to make proper sense of the information. My photos from before 2015 are stuck on my old computer and inaccessible right now.

The Toshiba Fuchu Plant area with the spurs seems to be in a restricted area with very little off site shooting areas, save from the station platform. Pity.
