Hi,

I have a (fairly valuable) item being shipped from Japan via Registered SAL. Tracking status is as the title, and has been for a few days. My question is; is it in the UK or not? From the wording one would assume it has left Japan but Royal Mail tracking can't find it. Could be simply sat in Tokyo airport waiting for a plane to board? I don't think it is stuck in UK customs as the last time I had something from Japan it cleared customs in a few hours.

Dispatch from outward office of exchange means the parcel has left the Japanese airport.  It may not show up on Royal Mail tracking until it has been unloaded, scanned and processed.  With non-EMS parcels this does not happen immediately in my experience. In my experience EMS gets priority on being unloaded and going through customs.
