Microace or Kato

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm wanting to buy a complete series 245.

There are two options:

Microace A0740 (8-cars)

or

Kato 10-1285 (9-cars)

Apart from the number of cars, I dont really see any differences.

Any thoughts on which one to buy?

Thanks for any replies!

Absolutely try to get the Kato version. The Kato is superior to MicroAce in basically every aspect: technically and visually. The MicroAce version might be worth it if you can get it really cheap, but even then I think the Kato version is much more desirable.

Wot Densha says. Also with Kato the chances are better you'll get closer coupling (i.e. non-Rapido couplers). And spares, if needed.

So Kato is the better option. However a full train has 9 cars. Not sure if Kato has the ninth car available...

I have the MA A0740: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10032982

It is all 9 cars.

I do agree the Kato one is superior over the MA one for this model, as Kato has closer couplers, printed destination boards and newer LED lights, and also readily available... unless the A0740 is going for a real good deal, IMHO, the Kato one wins this one
