Sotetsu Tokyu direct line (Sagami Railway) 20000 Series

Sotetsu is adding another fleet of vehicles, in this the 20000 series for through running on the Tokyu scheduled to open in the second half of 2022. The 20000 series debut is scheduled for December 2017 when the Sotetsu Group celebrates its 100th anniversary. The number of vehicles introduced this time is 10 cars in total (substitution for 7000 series vehicles).

I was thinking this whole train was just a meme, but here they are actually building it. Very Sotetsu to go for unconventional design like this.

As much as I like the 7000 Series, this new train will be such a cool addition to an already offbeat looking fleet. It'll be interesting to see it on other networks as well, strongly representing the very deep and dark Yokohama/Marine blue.

When I saw that mountain I was like that has to be Mt Ibuki. In the description it says that it is Omi-Nagaoka station on the Tokaido Main Line. Yup, definitely Mt Ibuki. That's what you get for seeing it everyday for six months.

 

On other news, is it just me or am I seeing car design influences on this train?
