Very nice! Many are very recognisable. I really like the San'yo Main Line between Okayama and Hiroshima.

 

Did you also get to see unrefurbished 115 series in Shonan colours? There should still be some of those running around there.

No doubts to me the 500 series is still the coolest train around!

I believe JR West is running the 115's in the following areas:

 

Himeji to Itozaki (San'yō Main Line)

Itozaki to Tokuyama (San'yō Main Line--though that is rapidly disappearing with the 227's now coming in service)

Tokuyama to Shimonoseki (San'yō Main Line)

Kurashiki to Yonago (Hakubi Line, though only occasionally)

Banshū-Akō to Okayama (Akō Line)
