Notorious Seibu

Recommended Posts

Yoshiaki Tsutsumi was, back in the 80s, considered for a while the richest man in the world. The Seibu railway and its real estate branch Kokudo were a gold mine. That was before he was arrested for securities fraud in 2005 and Cerberus took a big share of the company at a bargain price. Then Cerberus wanted to get rid of a few lines. They couldn't.

Anyway, where did the money come in the first place? Well, well, pecunia non olet http://41-31.at.webry.info/200810/article_1.html.

Coincidentially, I had a similar conversation with a colleague T-Traker a few weeks go about the origins of Seibu when I mentioned I'm not a fan of Seibu. We had a good laugh about it with some particular anecdotes. I can very much appreciate that Japanese like this level of humour likewise. xD
