Hello from Cerrillos, New Mexico!

Greetings everyone!

Some of you may remember me as a moderator on the old JRForum e-mail list on Yahoo! Groups, and I'm also a founding member of a little club you may have heard of, the Japan Rail Modelers of Washington, DC. After 18 years in the DC area I've finally moved back home to New Mexico. (Where did the time go? We were only supposed to be away for three years!)

Anyway, being away from my JRM mates, I've decided I better become active here on JNS if I'm going to get my fill of Japanese train related interaction!

I've been modeling trains since the mid-1980's, and Japanese trains since 1999. Although I like to get models of any train that piques my interest, I've gradually focused on Tohoku, especially Akita and central Iwate. This focus intensified when I toured the Akita freight yard in 2006, and when I lived in Iwate Prefecture 2007-2009 and watched Tohoku mainline and Tohoku Shinkansen trains run past my house every day.

I'm currently "between layouts" due to my recent move, but I'm sure I'll get a new one going soon after we move into our new place towards the end of May. If anyone else is here in or near NM, I'd also love to meet up in person. (I'm temporarily in Cerrillos, but my permanent home will be in Albuquerque.)

Nice to meet you all, and I look forward to inspiring conversation here on JNS!

Hey dude, good to see you made it over here. Interaction now has to be virtual!

I saw the title and thought, great someone else in NM for you, but it turned out to be you...

Welcome! Azamiyou will be a great addition to the forum. He was one of the founding members of JRM way way back and partner in crime building club layouts over the years. We will miss him here a lot!

Is there a train room in the new house?!

Cheers

Hey, Jeff! There's no official "train room" yet. I think I can negotiate for some space in the family room, but I have to wait and see what the space looks like with our furniture in it.

Matthew,

One word. Addition... hoku doesn't need the whole backyard. Or if the studio gets built then second floor train room.
