Kato EF63 / Kato EF64-0 / Kato EF66 Truck / Bogie space needed

Hello,

I am still in the evaluation phase, or better again, of building the Japanese built BFA-32M models in N scale. I would need your help in deciding which chassis to use. If someone with a Kato model of an EF63 and/or EF64-0 and/or EF66 please could measure the distance/space between center of first bogie/truck and center of last bogie/truck, thank you.

The plan was to stretch the DF50 chassis to get the right bogie/truck space but there are too many other changes to be made to fit a modified EF81 shell. If I could start with an EF63, EF64-0 or EF66 chassis instead it would be much easier but I need the dimensions first so I know which chassis or model to order for the next step.

Thank you.

Cheers, Tim

why not EF65-500? looks like a better fit.

the undercarriage is different tho.. looks like the BFA has smaller wheels. swap the bogies with DF50's perhaps? and add some boxes between the gap

Hi, thank you, the EF65 has a different, more modern drive (power pick up brass stripes are down at the bogies and not on top of the mechanism), the DF50 bogies will not fit the EF65 drive. It seems, the EF63 drive would be the best match if I knew the measurements. The shell itself will be built out of EF81 shells and parts.

Cheers, Tim

Yeah, thank you all for your help. Don't need the dimensions anymore, will stretch the DF50 drive.
