Hehehe, something tells me he would be totally out of gauge.... Looks like even on the Shinkansen, they'd have to demolish buildings outside the right of way!

Yeah Kobaru does many strange and weird figures, including and not limited to these:

Pretty interesting figures, but not cheap... Tomytec carries more dough for your buck ~

Thanks JR. "Punishment Gal" is probably not all that family appropriate.

I've no idea what the guys in this one are doing. Maybe they're dancing.

These are super weird. Not sure what anyone would do with these. Pooping with the door open isn't really prototypical in any culture. Especially not Japan. Maybe they're for 'wilderness' scenes. Although the woman on the left definitely looks like she's sitting on a loo, rather than squatting.

I think lost in translation there...

kobaru likes to do the very odd bits! I guess for those cutaway views...

doug Coster had the noch couple in bed on the top floor of his Love motel on his layout. You had to look very closely thru a window to see the action. I suggested he add a little tiny bit of motion to them to catch the eye better, but I think that was a little further than he wanted to go.

Yes, the noch fornicators are funny. Some company also makes a set of hookers, which are also amusing. But I'm trying to keep things PG. The little man is only 9.

But poop and pee is just funny at any age.

Btw, when I use to work doing kids books and multimedia, I use to always say “poop rules” as for many kids is just funny and gross (that being good) and if properly and cleanly used it could really make educational points stick in kids minds and enjoy it to boot. Of course many I worked with did not alway agree fully... but most all with kids heartily agreed.

I hope 9 months isn't too necromantic for this forum?

I had no idea how much I wanted an outdoor onsen on my layout until I saw that pic!

That being said, I'm a big anime fan and I'll be trying to incorporate scenes and characters from anime into my layout - stuff like the Dojo, Ucchans and the Nekohanten from Ranma 1/2, etc. I'm going to try and make my own custom N-scale figures using the SLA 3d printer. I think it'll be pushing things just about as far as they can go doing it though - I'll try for Z-scale, but I have doubts I'll get anything worthwhile

Not at all. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Do you mind sharing how you're going to make your own figures? I'm interested in doing that too.

An anycubic Photon 3d printer and Blender, probably. Or I may see if I can export out of Daz3d, but the scale size is so tiny that it's probably massive overkill to do so. An anime figure in N-scale mostly comes down to "Does it have funny colored hair and an orange jumper?"

There are a number of decent looking 1/144 figures on shapeways, been waiting for some that look useful and try some. Theyare near the limit of 3D printing, but that is ever evolving these days.

btw Ari (parent of microace) makes a nice hot spring diorama

Unfortunately Tomytec’s beach folks Have not been rereleased (good poses there for a spa, some lower quality Chinese ones on ebay

ive had some luck reposing figures a tiny bit by dipping them in hot water and bending. You can get dramatic by lopping off limbs and regluing them in new positions.

cheers

MicroAce did a Galaxy Express C62 with coaches a while ago, that one came with several figures from the series / movie. Hobby Search has a pretty decent close up of the figures: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10077517

Those are pretty nice looking - it's a good benchmark to set when making my own.

Cloud Strife practicing at a Kendo Dojo is now a shoo-in for my layout!

Definitely look good, but I'd like to see some of the final prints instead of just renders. One of the fellows putting stuff up there looks like he has some relevant tutorial videos on youtube that I'll be going through later...

The diorama scene looks good - something I'll be taking another look at when I get to doing the N Scale layout.

I checked my collection of Tomytec figures, and I don't have #49. I do wonder what I was thinking back when I was buying this stuff - Trying to catch them all, or something?

You will always need more figures! Tomytec does try to push the collector button when they can!

They have been pretty good about rerunning sets over the years but at times there can be big gaps at times like the beach folks.

Wow! Are you going to open these packets and use the figures at some stage?

I have boxes upon boxes of N scale stuff that I collected in preparation of having my own layout. At the time I didn't have space, but I had spending money. Now I have space, but no spending money, so being a "Rail Prepper" paid off, somewhat. I probably have 50 greenmax kits, piles of track, and literally dozens of sankei, kato and tomix buildings.  I've got a 20'x10' space for the layout, once renovations are complete, so it's not like I won't get the use out of the stuff.  I'll post about it in the regular forums once I manage to catalogue everything.
