What did you do on your layout today? (N scale)

Rolled out the new wagons, after fitting all handrails, brake wheels, stove pipes, and optional knuckle couplers. Ran a few tests to establish that (1) the EF510 is okay with nine Kokis and containers, and (2) the DE10 is okay with nine freight cars, and (3) the tail lights on the Wafu 29500 look really nice. The latter two points are demonstrated in this video:

Weekend saw some more work on the freight yard including the fitting of some yard and street lights, tho not connected up yet.

still lots of scenic stuff to do and the next 2-3 weeks should see it more or less completed with the arrival of a few bits.

I wasn't sure if I posted this to the forum already. It's a short video I did where I added sounds of Japan to my layout. Love how it turned out!

Added a bit more colour and put the tracks back down on the incline. Still haven't really planned the little terminal at the top yet. But the lift out board is in place with 2 Kato extended Unitrack sections for access.

I just wished Kato had made a double track curve at the next 2 radia in the super elevated.

I'm down at Littlehampton on Friday working at the station there. So I'll probably pop into Gaugemaster on the way back. I'm after some of the Ratio 257 relay boxes anyway.

Looking good Mr Clam 👍👍😀 I m right with you on the problem of the lack of radia on the curves.

i was looking at having to mix single and double together until I decided to bury it all inside a mountain! When I finally get around to building it that is😂😂👍

A highlighter pen, steel rule, craft knife, and some adhesive address labels are enough to make the container yard a little bit more realistic. Not quite prototypical, but not bad.

This is amazing stuff! I love it! It's amazing how much the sounds actually makes the whole video come alive! Love your layout and those weathering technics are super!

May I ask what is the pink building in the corner, featured at 2:55 of the video? It looks very nice!

Those giant Japanese hornets really are much bigger than people give them credit for!

Using the Fifer cut and shut method.

Made 2 custom lengths of track to sort out this bend. The approach tracks are the 414/381 and the centre radius is the 315/281.

I’m pulling my layout apart completely. It just made no sense to leave 20cm unused at the end of the table. So I’m redoing it slightly longer than before.

I'm wondering what this building a layout thing is?I've got forty trains ,no money and little space to build one!

Am I bothered? No but one would be nice!!!

It's this mythical thing that some people claim to do. Some even have pictures of it, but they're obviously all fake, it's just a big hoax.

Ha! That was me when I was a kid. My layout stareted at 50”x28” and frankensteined up to like 84” x 40” to take up every bit of space available in my room with I think 5 additions over a year or two! It was a learning experience as I had never done a layout and started from a plan in one of the little atlas books but then would see more cool things and learn more on operations and realize hmm if I added 4” there I could get a passing track, 4” there and have 2 independent loops, 6” along there and 4 more yard tracks, 12” there a turntable and engine house... I just kept bolting on new sections.

Well that was like 25+ years later! But yes I did learn to plan more and make the layout come apart as I had to tear up the old Frankenstein when I started college... it was quite funny once I had torn off everything salvageable and flipped it over as it was a patch work of sections bolted together.

This hobby is actually a Pokemon predecessor. The real goal is collect complete numbered series for no better reason than to sit them on a shelf and look at them
