Well, you know in his current condition he can't do heavy lifting so he had to resort to this. :)

Nice. Do the lights on the near curved platform piece light up as well?

Damm,I should have known I would nt get away with it!😂😂

No mate that one is the one that comes in the kit.I ve got two more platforms on order to fit alongside this one and when they arrive they ll be made up in the same way and I ll fit the working ones to both at the same time, the two working ones on this platform I d fitted previously. They re 3v so if  I fit them at the same time I can feed both from one supply.

good spot gavin👍😀

Hi Paul,

Could you share some pictures of the LEDs installed on the ceiling and maybe a little bit of the wiring? Thanks.

It’s nothing special mate and I ve used a few diferent types of bulbs but these are the best I ve found and what I use now. They have a decent base and are #12v so ideal

Digging through one of three Tomix track boxes to set up a train layout on the second hobby table.  All the track is set up in sections ready to be installed.

This the first one one I did.Big wires and lights,no big deal as you don’t see them.

this one has been removed for repairs and cleaning, nothing major, just loose wires, missing figures etc.

And the underneath.Same principal as the mini platforms. This one was done about four years ago.I d like to think if I was doing it again now from scratch I could do it a lot neater but in terms of illuminating the platforms the effect would be just the same. The reason for two diferent coloured wires is the roof lights are 12v And the platform/ street lights are 3v.

i ll post a pic once finished.

Hope this helps buddy.

I decided to clear off my second hobby table and once again have a Japanese train layout. My first hobby table has my Unitram Euro/Japanese tram layout. I must have gone through 20 track plans intending to use my on hand Tomix track. Basically two loops one R280 superelevated and the other HC243 P4 25mm low viaduct so I have a bit of change of elevation but not too hard on the trains. I am working with a 1524 x 762mm (60 inch by 30 inch) table. It is hard to get in a full P10 bridge incline and descent on that table. I also wanted a siding for unpacking trains.

The siding gradually evolved into a almost full oval siding with my curved turnouts. There were six turnouts, allowing several options other than just around and around.  It looked OK on paper, but when I got on the table it was right up to the edge of the table. Not comfortable with that margin of safety shown in the photo. The remaining debris on the table includes a tinplate Lisbon taxi and a monster 80-watt Atlas O gauge power pack.

Tomorrow the curved turnouts come off and the R280 curve becomes a full superelevated. There will now be two ovals, one si car platform along the inner track,  five turnouts and a siding which is enough for my operating needs.  I also want to check my controls tomorrow to see if I have enough cables for turnouts.

I still need to order inclines for the HC243-45 viaducts, a Tomix embankment section and some other items later this month.   I may also add a 3-way switch given budget and maybe a another train.

Hey DD,

looks good to me buddy,if it’s enough for your operating needs then it s all good bill.I have a theory that no matter how much room you have available it s never big enough and we push things to the limit.

Hi Bill,

can I just add that for train running and viewing there s nothing wrong with the plain boring loops mate!

I was very apprehensive about them when I did mine but because I wanted to use the layout as a display area and needed the space for the sidings I was kinda forced into it.I was out running Trains last week and I had a derailment that I did nt notice and ended up with all four Trains off their tracks on the lower level. It was like that for two days till my son came around to retrieve them for me as I could nt get them myself in my current state,so I started to wonder if I d done the right thing in making it where I needed to climb under.I even drew up another track plan.Once retrieved and got them all running again I realised that I really like what I can see from where I sit.I know there s a gap in the middle but that’s purely for access to derailments and cleaning,I sit at the front and I can see all 8 trains running all around the layout and I can seee all the trains in the sidings, you soon forget it’s just loops mate.My point being that foe simply running and viewing loops are just fine bill.

I can't believe I get to add a post here.  Here's a link, as there was a fair bit going on.

I recently finished some legs for a small 40+ year old module that was given to me a couple years ago.  Today I took the big step of scraping off the original track and scenery and cutting a section out of one side to start creating a coastal scene.  This module will be used to expand a modular layout I belong to called AsiaNrail.  We actually have that layout set up right now at an aircraft museum for a week long exhibition but today being a holiday the museum was closed.

Don't mind the dust, some of these have been out of the box sitting on a layout doing a lot of nothing. Also fun, the most obvious out of scale locomotives are all Kato (the C11s and the C57-180)
