Strangely enough I had the sam problem with the same roof! It’s glued now.

It's actually black air drying modelling clay. 

The instructions say. "Dries to a hard state in 24-72hrs" more like a week. But when it was still soft. Used a toothpick to make the gap by the rails. Probably didn't need to go so deep. But better safe than a derailed train plowing through the shrine.

Planning out my tunnel and temple hill area. I'm going to go over all of this with plaster soaked paper towels.

Whew....took me FOREVER to get some traction on this! hehehe  Analysis paralysis. It's good to think things through, but bad when it stops you in your tracks.

Finally got this old beast working. We got it second hand off ebay about 5 years ago - the first 'full train' we ever bought. It was a Christmas present and we were very excited about it. It has never worked properly until today. This train may have been the biggest factor, causing us to turn away from American trains. Ironically we can thank it for that. Japanese trains are so much better!!

Nice Paul! Better details and more modern than the old carelton tree ornament. Like the tables, umbrellas and chairs. Wish I had grabbed a few more of these years ago when they first came out!

Nice models tho jeff,like you say the vollmer one is just a bit more modern.it was a bit fiddly to be honest especiallly the lights but I got there eventually.👍👍

That looks great Khaul! Never thought of the idea of using toothpicks for Torii gates! Thanks for sharing!

Glad you like it. I forgot to buy a torii with my last order so I decided to make one at home.

 

The thin horizontal bar is a piece of a needle. I used my new pin vice to drill tiny holes in the toothpicks. Painting was trickier than expected. I started with a layer of brown acrylic, but it would not stay in the needle. I ended up using red enamel. It look a bit too shiny so I sanded it a bit and applied a grey wash on top.

I wonder if anyone can help me out here please gents?

as I mentioned earlier in the week I m putting a VERY small single lane bus system in,i have nt got it yet but I have enough track to mock up the oval but I do nt have the bus stop.

 

 

 

I ve almost finished the row of buildings that fit along the same side as the bus stop and was wondering if anybody can provide me with the bus stop dimensions so I can make a footprint which will allow me to fit the buildings in around it.I d be very grateful if anyone can do this for me,

Started my mini module build:

 

 

It will be around 496mm long and is designed to work with the Kato elevated double track. There will be a left handed crossover section on the polystyrene riser (which will be clad with concrete block effect plasticard) and I need to build functional abutments for the connecting viaducts to rest on. Also need road surfaces, more buildings, fencing for the embankment section and overhead wiring masts. First scenery I've built for many years!

Wanted some tall buildings for the American side of the tram layout so had a go at a bit of kitbashing.

boughtt two cheap models from eBay,

They come as clip together kits and take about five mins to assemble.I fitted braces to them and glued them together,printed some signs off the Internet,added some roof detail from bits I had,built a plinth base and added some steps,not happy with the colour of the steps so will repaint them,a bit of weathering,lights fitted and window film and ended up with this,

Needs a bit of fine tuning but ok for first attempt I guess and the whole thing cost about £25!!!!!

Slowly making progress with my Unitram Euro layout.  All the balsa block bases but one small section are in.  Most still need to be painted and glued into larger blocks.  I have tested both the inner loop and the outer loop. There is one problem with the Tomytec drive struggling to get by track joint which i suspect is a piece of rail that has become unseated.  This probably requires replacing the curves. At this point I have two automatic stops installed and working. I have started adding .040 styrene block bases in preparation for landscaping around the buildings. Japanese road markings have been sanded off.  In a couple of places .040 styrene sidewalks are in place. Buildings are mainly Pola, with a few Tomytec.

👍Great bill,I ve been looking fortward to seein this,good effort buddy,I love the uniitram  but it just took up to much space for what I have available that’s why I went with the tomix stuff.

I have Tomix Wide Tram too, Paul.  Even with its faults I like Unitram.  Especially those turnouts.  Incidentally the Unitram layout is 19.5 x 60 inches.  Very compact.

I don't the exact same bus shelter, but I cut down an older Tomytec 007 bus stop. The base is now 105mm long x 20 mm.
