Now that's a model that I would like, those interesting shaped and number of windows will surely like great running on the layout, along with the super-futuristic front lights!

Just curious, there doesn't seem to be a large number of rail fans on the platform.. I have the impression these yet-to-be-in-service-on-trial trains will usually have a ton of railfans standing-by to take exclusive photos of it...

Maybe this train is a bit too weird and/or wasn't hyped up by the railway media enough to attract crowds. I guess it's seen more as yet another Joyful Train, but a bit more luxurious and a completely new design and model.

Personally, it's not warming me up much...

Hello,

I am a fan.  I think it is interesting.

But, for those of you who are old enough to understand, if you run it through a punch card machine it will create a VBA macro that prints, "Hello World!  I'm E001!"

Please move this thread to the ugliest train thread please.  :) Just kidding, to each his own.  Not my cup of tea!

It is superb. The colour just adds to the awe.

Meanwhile, the flat-spot on the trailing car on that Super Azusa is disappointing.

Couldn't care less about the appearance.  I do care that (hopefully) this will earn revenue for JR East, get more leisure dollars spent on railway journeys, and continue to spur innovation in rolling stock design.  Where else in the world is EMU sleeping car rolling stock such as this (with hybrid technology and go-anywhere ability) being built?

I wonder who is building the last three cars of this train (7 of the 10 cars have been delivered from KHI's Hyogo plant). They'll probably be testing the full trainset very soon or early next spring before start of service.

(EDIT: Oh never mind--it appears the full 10-car trainset has been delivered to JR East.)
