Welcome to the forum.  Perhaps you are aware of the Japanese connection that Chile's railways have, in the form of the AEZ and AEL emu designs from the 1970's, and even earlier, the model 80 4-8-2 mountain type SL, 30 of which were built by Mitsubishi in 1952.

“Rail was born in the 19th century, but it will survive in the 20th and dominate in the 21st”.

Welcome fpav !
I wish you to be able to travel to Japan many times as it is a wonderful experience, and not only for the trains.

And congratulations for your job to come.

Thanks to welcome, yeah, I traveled many times in AEL trains with commercial name "Metrotren". "Metrotren" is a service between Santiago (capital of Chile) and Rancagua (capital of Region VI) and AEZ I watched many times but I never traveled in this train.
