  1. Batuwatta station of Sri Lanka Railways is located on the busy railway line between Gampaha and Ragama stations. All trains from Colombo to Kandy, Badulla, Vavuniya, Jaffna, Trincomalee and Batticaloa have to pass here. The train density is correspondingly high. This film shows the passenger trains and the single freight train. Sri Lanka Railways still uses Hitachi locomotives and railcars, called there M5 and S8. The station building and especially the trains towards Colombo are illuminated the best in the afternoon sun.
  2. Has anyone had problems with the trucks on kato passenger cars melting? I've had two SuHa43 series cars (5133, 5134) on which the sideframes and the plastic parts of the axles have melted. After running for only a few hours, on and off, three of the four trucks on the two cars had each overheated the inboard axle, to the point that the car derailed, and the axle fell out of the truck. The first one, the plastic part of the axle melted in two, while the others the sideframe warped to the point that it could no longer hold the axle in place. I can't find replacements for these trucks (kato TR47 #5133-1D) anywhere either.
