    JR Central will introduce the Shinkansen N700S series on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines in fiscal 2020, replacing the 700 series trains which will be retired at the end of 2019. The N700S will feature a a new "Dual Supreme Wing" nose, which will lessen air resistance and reduce noise upon entering tunnels. The first prototype 16-car N700S train is expected in March 2018.
